The Battle Among The Clans sets its scene in the 1940s, a period which is rarely covered in Hong Kong TV dramas. Led by the world renowned superstar Chow Yun Fat, this drama features the most popular artists now and then. Mini Kung takes on the female lead for the first time and she makes a very good start, by creating fantastic chemistries with with Eddie Kwan and Chow Yun Fat. Fans who enjoy watching Chow Yun Fat in The Bund would equally appreciate this drama, which has a similar style but with a more light-hearted and less depressing tone. A big production in 1985 with the most appealing cast, a complex and exciting storyline, The Battle Among The Clans contains action, romance and a bit of comedy in one drama. As suggested by the title, The Battle Among The Clans centers around the battles and struggles among the clans in Hong Kong for power and money in the 1940s, when Hong Kong has just been liberated from Japan. Lok Chung Hing (Chow Yun Fat), head of a clan, would like to expand his power and he thus makes use of his stepson Hong Kwan (Eddie Kwan) to the head of the opposite clan (Kenneth Tsang). However, in the course of action, Kwan discovers that Hing is the murderer of his father! At the same time, Kwan and Hing both fall for a charming nurse (Mini Kung). The struggle for love and power between the "father and son" puts them in a real difficult position.
