The story of Gundam 0083 takes placed shortly after the 1-year war. The Duchy of Zeon and the Earth Federation are arranging truces and peace talks throughout their dominions, but tempers still rage strong. The Federation, or Feddies as they are called by the Zeon, have just constructed a nuclear type Gundam, despite the Antarctic treaty that banned the use of nuclear weapons. After the Zeons lost the 1-year war, they were confined to backwater planets which would serve as their homes. Feeling cheated, the Zeons expose the new Gundam to the public eye, under the stewardship of commander Aguielle Delaz and Anaval Gato. A young pilot; Kou Uraki, and his partner; Chuck Keith both get an up-close look of the Gundam Unit 01, and the Gundam Unit 02, the latter of which is the nuclear class. Through betrayal and comradeship, Kou comes Gundam to Gundam with Gato, the two vying for both the Gundam unit 2, and the heart of miss Nina Purpleton.
