Scientist Jiang (Philip Chan) dedicates all his time and heart to his cloning research, but his wife can't put up with him anymore. She divorces him and returns to Hong Kong, son in tow, not knowing that her husband had cloned their son. Years later, Jiang also moves to Hong Kong and opens a clinic. Through his partner Ching (Au-Yeung Pui San), Jiang meets a lonely young man named Ka Wai (Tony Leung), and eventually realizes that Ka Wai is actually his son's clone. Raised in an orphanage, Ka Wai is honest, gentle, and kind-hearted, the exact opposite of Jiang's troublemaking birth son.
