When the Ming Emperor wants to abolish his first son and have his second soninherit his throne instead, his proposal touched off a huge dissent among his officials. The Emperor asks lord shek, a commoner who supposedly conceals a secret succesion order given to him by the first Ming Emperor, to come to the palace to reveal the order and settle the matter.
