Casino Tycoon:
As Japan threatens China during WW2, Ho Hsin (Andy Lau) flees to Macao with a pal and gets promoted from coolie to the trusted employee of a smuggler/casino operator. On the way, he loses his well-heeled girlfriend Joey Wong, gains abused Chingmy Yau as his wife, and embarks on a rambling path to wealth. Lurid melodrama mortally wounds this flick.

Casino Tycoon 2:
The sequel to Casino Tycoon. Andy Lau owns his casino and enjoys peace at home, so nothing much happens until half-way through the movie. Lau's crippled wife Chingmy Yau encourages him to pursue a relationship with comely soap star Cheung Man, but scheming casino workers, a trio of greedy blackjack winners, and hints of incest set Lau's nerves jangling. Leaves it open for a sequel
