This film tells a story that happened in the 1940's when Hong Kong and many parts of China fell into Japanese hands. Because of the understanding Japan had with Portugal not to invade Macau., then a Portugal not to invade Macua, then a Portuguese colony, throngs of people flocked to the enclave to seek a safe haven. Among the people who fled there were a reporter and a direct descendent of the royal family of the Qing Dynasty, who would have been a royal princesshad the rule of the Qing Dynasty continued. Through the story of how they met and fell in love, and the dilemma they faced, the film gives a glimpse of the direcircumstances of the time and the jittery life of people. Yet there were still people who contributed in whatever ways they could to the querilla warfare against the Japanese. They were various associations under different pretences for the patriotic cause. One of the groups, which did exist, called themselves the eight fairies in the Chines folklore....
