Fat Cat (Ken Cheng), a good-natured but mentally retarded adult, is jailed for two years before being bailed out by the Social Welfare Department for good behaviour. Discharges and an orphan, Fat Cat is placed in the custody of a social welfare worker Bibi (Maggie Cheung), but there is a communication gap between the two. One day, Bibi takes him to Lantau Island to visit his late parents' grave. As he is crying his heart out, Bibi is involved in a traffic accident, leaving him alone on the Island to lead a wandering life. Seized by colde and hunger at night, Fat Cat tries to steal food from a puppy and is spotted by a stubborn but kind-hearted elder, Granduncle. Failing to find where Fat Cat lives, he takes him home and adopts him.
